Eco Friendly Automation Campus and Facilities
L&T´s centre for excellence Unnati, is a green organization and provides eco friendly work environment.
Spread across an area, more than 100,000 sq. ft.,Unnati houses fully equipped Systems Assembly area, separate air-conditioned Factory Acceptance Test (FAT- Systems Integration) area, a Technology Center for new technology research and design, Customer Service Centre for repair services, a Quality Assurance department, a number of conference rooms equipped with modern conferencing systems, etc. There is a 24x7 Offshore Development Centre (ESS) with Green card certification from STPI (Software Technology Park of India), to cater to the needs of domestic and international customers.The manufacturing facility has been set up on more than 28,000 sq. ft. area.
With a seating capacity of more than 550, the building houses ample recreation area with a fully equipped gymnasium, library, atrium, canteen and break out areas. Training programs are conducted at two dedicated training centers -“C. V. Raman” and “J. C. Bose” in Control & Automation facility.
The building is equipped with modern amenities like access control and building management systems with zone-controlled air-conditioning and efficient energy management systems. Aesthetically designed, surrounded by lush green gardens the place is a delight to work in.
The Campus utilizes a renewable form of energy, solar energy to the fullest, for generation of power. A Solar Photovoltaic Power Generation System that generates 180 -200 units of energy on an average, has been installed.
A Solar water heating system is used for heating water up to 60 degrees, which has a capacity 1500 liters per day, which takes care of the entire water requirements of the Campus Cafeteria.
The Automation Campus is designed for the inlet of maximum amount of natural light and to conserve energy. Forty stand alone solar lights have been installed which provide sufficient light for the entire duration of the night. These have rendered the usage street lights, redundant.
A Waste Water Treatment Plant recycles waste water for gardening purposes, thereby ensuring zero discharge of untreated waste water into the environment.
Proper waste management systems ensure that waste generated is disposed properly according to the methods. Hazardous waste, like oil, Biomedical waste, etc., is collected by Mumbai Waste Management.
E -Waste is collected and processed by Eco-Reco Ltd. Kitchen waste is collected in two compost pits, for composting to be used as manure.
The facility ensures zero effluent discharge. Noise levels are checked regularly and are within the permissible limits, there by ensuring a sound working environment for Unnati.
