L&T bags NDTV Profit Business Leadership Award

L&T bagged the prestigious NDTV Profit Business Leadership Award in the Infrastructure category. L&T has won the award on multiple occasions in the past, affirming its unrivalled leadership position in the industry.

The award was accepted on behalf of the Company by Mr. R. Shankar Raman, CFO.  It was handed over by Dr. Montek Singh Ahluwalia, Deputy Chairman, Planning Commission, at a function in New Delhi on April 8, 2013 that was attended by the crème de la crème of Indian industry and other celebrities.

Mr. R. Shankar Raman, L&T’s Chief Financial Officer, won the prestigious ‘CFO of the Year’ Award presented by the leading business channel CNBC TV18 in March, 2013. The CNBC TV18 CFO of the Year Awards are among the most coveted in the financial community.  They honour “the best minds in finance that have steered their organizations through the choppy waters of the economic downturn”.

Mr. Shankar Raman was also awarded ‘Best Performing CFO in the Infrastructure & Power Sector’

L&T Wins ICC Corporate Governance & Sustainability Vision Award

L&T has once again won recognition for its commitment to corporate governance and sustainability practices. The Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) awarded L&T the Corporate Governance and Sustainability Vision Award 2013 in the ‘Water Stewardship’ category.

The award was received by Mr. K.R. Palta, Advisor to the Chairman, L&T, from Mr. Arun Maira, Member, Planning Commission – Government of India, at a function held in New Delhi on February 19, 2013.  This award recognises L&T’s initiatives for water conservation, processes & practices to reduce its water footprint and watershed development for communities.

L&T Conferred ‘Caring Company Award’ By World CSR Congress

L&T was awarded the ‘Caring Company Award’ on February 17-18, 2013 by the World CSR Congress for its sustained initiatives in reaching out to the underprivileged.

The Caring Company Award is presented to companies displaying exemplary corporate citizenship and commitment to create a truly cohesive society. The evaluation for the award was carried out by an independent jury panel and Council of Board Members of the World CSR Congress.

L&T Power Wins ‘Golden Peacock National Quality Award’

L&T Power was presented the prestigious ‘Golden Peacock National Quality Award – 2012’ at the 23rd World Congress on ‘Leadership & Quality of Governance’, at Bangalore on February 8, 2013.

The ‘Golden Peacock National Quality Award’ set up by the Institute of Directors seeks to recognize and reward organizations that effectively implement quality initiatives resulting in all-round excellence while contributing to improved business practices. This year the Awards Secretariat received over 137 responses.  A total of 14 organizations scoring the highest among the respective industrial categories were recommended to an eminent jury for final selection.

L&T Heavy Engineering Bags CII–ITC Sustainability Award

L&T Heavy Engineering was conferred the prestigious CII–ITC Sustainability Award. L&T HE received the Certificate of Commendation for Strong Commitment to the cause of sustainability. Mr. Y. S. Trivedi, Executive Vice President and Member of the Board – Heavy Engineering, received the award on January 14, 2013 from the President of India,
Mr. Pranab Mukherjee.

The annual CII-ITC Sustainability Awards are conferred on Indian businesses that demonstrate excellent performance in the area of sustainable development. Instituted in 2006 by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and FMCG major ITC, the Sustainability Awards are aimed at recognising exemplary performance in economic, social and environmental dimensions of Indian business.

Mr. A.M. Naik Ranked 32nd Best Performing CEO In The World

The Harvard Business Review in its January-February 2013 edition named L&T’s Executive Chairman, Mr. A.M. Naik, as the 32nd Best Performing CEO in the world. In the industrial sector Mr. Naik ranked 4th Globally. The Harvard Business Review is one of the most respected business journals in the world.

Mr. Naik was ranked in a global study of 3143 CEOs from 1862 companies representing 64 nationalities and from companies based in 37 countries. The evaluation criteria included how much shareholder returns had changed over their tenure and the overall increase in market capitalization.

Newsweek Ranks L&T 4th Globally in List of Greenest Industrial Companies

In November 2012, Newsweek, the globally respected and widely read news magazine published ‘Green Rankings’ - a comparative score card of the top 500 green companies.
L&T placed fourth in the Industrial Goods category worldwide, ahead of many of its global peers including GE, ABB, Schneider, amongst others, and is the highest in India in this category. L&T also features among the world’s top 100 companies across all categories.

L&T Voted ‘Champion of Champions’ at the ABCI 52nd Annual Awards

L&T won multiple laurels that propelled Brand L&T to a new high of professional recognition at the Annual Awards function of the Association of Business Communicators of India (ABCI) in Mumbai on October 19, 2012.

In addition to the eight entries that received honours in various categories, L&T was voted ‘Champion of Champions’ on the strength of securing the highest number of awards across all participating companies.

A further distinction of ‘Communicator of the Year’ was awarded to Mr. D. Morada, Vice President, Corporate Brand Management & Communications, for clarity and drive in articulating the Company’s brand positioning and for developing a globally-benchmarked corporate identity system.

Mr. A.M. Naik Honoured With ICC Lifetime Achievement Award

In recognition of the outstanding contribution made by Mr. A.M. Naik, Executive Chairman, L&T, to the chemical industry, the Mumbai-based Indian Chemical Council (ICC) honoured him with the coveted D.M. Trivedi Lifetime Achievement Award for 2011.

Mr. S.N. Roy, Whole-time Director & Sr. EVP (Corporate Affairs & Power), L&T, accepted the award on behalf of Mr. Naik from Dr. Ashok Ganguly, Member of Parliament, in Mumbai on October 12, 2012.

L&T 9th in Global Ranking of World’s Most Innovative Companies

Forbes - the reputed US-based global business magazine - ranked L&T the 9th most innovative company in a global study. L&T was rated highest amongst Indian companies that made the list, and was the only Indian company to feature in the top ten.

L&T Heavy Engineering Wins Safety Innovation Award

Appreciating the efforts put in to achieve high Occupational Health, Safety & Environment standards at its manufacturing facilities, the Delhi State Centre of the Institution of Engineers (India) conferred on L&T Heavy Engineering, the prestigious Safety Innovation Award - 2012. 

The award was presented on August 9, 2012  by Dr.  Narendra Jadhav, Member, Planning Commission, during the Safety Convention - 2012 organised by the Institution of Engineers (India) at New Delhi.

L&T - Chiyoda wins ICAI National Award for Excellence in Cost Management - 2011

L&T - Chiyoda (LTC) was conferred the prestigious National Award for Excellence in Cost Management by the Institute of Cost Accountants of India (ICAI). LTC won the First Prize in the category of ‘Private - Service Sector (Medium)’ for achieving business excellence by adopting the best cost management initiatives. 

Mr. K. Sudhakar, Chief Executive, LTC, received the award from Dr. M. Veerappa Moily, Minister of Corporate Affairs, and Mr. Naved Masood, Secretary, Ministry of Corporate Affairs at the 9th Annual Award function held at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi on July 17, 2012.

In the 2012 Power List of India's Top 50 industry leaders published by the renowned magazine, Manufacturing Today, L&T's Chairman & Managing Director, Mr. A.M Naik was inducted to the Hall of Fame.

Mr. A.M. Naik Ranked Asia's Top CEO in Infrastructure Sector by Institutional Investor, Mr. R. Shankar Raman voted Best CFO.

The prestigious Hong Kong based magazine, Institutional Investor, ranked Mr. A.M. Naik, Asia's Best CEO in the Infrastructure Sector for 2012. In another significant honour Mr. R. Shankar Raman was voted best CFO in the survey.

Mr. A.M. Naik’s role as leader of India’s premier infrastructure company and his contribution to nation building found affirmation once again as leading business channel CNBC TV18 honoured him with the prestigious ‘Infrastructure Leader of the Year’ award.

L&T Hydrocarbon Bags CNBC TV18 ‘Infrastructure Excellence Award’

L&T Hydrocarbon business was presented the Infrastructure Excellence Award for the successful execution of the world’s longest heated and insulated pipeline from Barmer in Rajasthan to Salaya in Gujarat.

L&T Heavy Engineering Wins National Award for Export Excellence

L&T Heavy Engineering won the prestigious National Award for Export Excellence, presented by the Engineering Export Promotion Council of India (EEPC).

Heavy Engineering was rated star performer in the Large Enterprise category for its export performance in 2010-11. This is the fourth time that L&T has received this award. (March 31, 2012)

L&T wins ICC ‘Corporate Governance and Sustainability Vision Award 2012’

L&T’s commitment to corporate sustainability won industry recognition once again. The Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) awarded the Company, the Corporate Governance and Sustainability Vision Award 2012 in the ‘Sustainability Reporting’ category. (February 23, 2012)

L&T Ranks 3rd in BSE Green Index

L&T’s performance in environmental conservation won market recognition as it was ranked third in a weighted tally of the ‘Green Index’ published by the Bombay Stock Exchange. Called the ‘BSE-GREENEX’, this first-of-its-kind index assesses the ‘carbon performance’ of companies drawn from the BSE Top 100. L&T’s high ranking is specially commendable since the BSE-GREENEX is not a subjective assessment and applies sector-specific algorithms to determine energy performance and is based on publicly disclosed data. L&T was ranked 10th in a prestigious listing published by Business Today of the ‘Best Companies to Work For’. The listing is based on a survey carried out by the research firm Indicus Analytics. (February 16, 2012)

FICCI Awards for Excellence in Quality Systems

The L&T Group secured multiple recognition from the prestigious Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI). The Platinum Awards for Excellence in Quality Systems were won by L&T Heavy Engineering - Powai Campus – Mumbai and by L&T Komatsu (LTK) Bangalore Works. Both these awards are in the large scale manufacturing category.

L&T Ranks Among Top 10 in S&P ESG India Index

L&T ranked among the Top 10 in Standard & Poor’s (S&P) ESG India index of companies in terms of ‘Environment, Social and Governance’ performance. The index is sponsored by International Finance Corporation (IFC), and is developed by a consortium of Standard & Poor, CRISIL and KLD (an international research organisation) specialising in global equity market research.

L&T's Chairman & Managing Director, Mr. A.M. Naik, was ranked as one of the top two of India’s Best CEOs in a study conducted by India’s leading business magazine Business Today (part of the India Today Group), leading international business school - INSEAD, and the Harvard Business Review.

Affirming L&T’s stature in building infrastructure, the Company was honoured with NDTV Profit’s Business Leadership Award. The NDTV Profit Business Leadership Awards were instituted to recognise organisational excellence. NDTV’s rigorous selection process involved short-listing the industry categories that contributed the most to India’s GDP and growth, collating a list of organisations in each category based on parameters like revenues, revenue growth and market share, and defining parameters and assigning weights.

L&T bags 11 ABCI Awards; Voted ‘Champion of Champions’

L&T’s Corporate Communications had a special date with 11-11-11 - it bagged a total of 11 awards at the gala awards function of the Association of Business Communicators of India. The tally includes awards secured across the spectrum of ‘House Magazines’, Brochures, Calendars, Photographs…. The number of awards was among the highest secured by any company or organisation in the country, qualifying L&T for the coveted ‘Champion of Champions Award’. (November 14, 2011)

A little over a week after Mr. A.M. Naik, Chairman & Managing Director, L&T, received the Asia Business Leader Award from CNBC Asia in Singapore, CNBC TV18 India honoured him with the ‘CNBC Asia - Outstanding Business Leader’ Award for 2010. The glittering awards ceremony, held in Mumbai on December 11, 2010, was presided over by the Union Finance Minister, Mr. Pranab Mukherjee.

Mr. A. M. Naik, Chairman & Managing Director, L&T, was conferred the Golden Peacock Award for Lifetime Achievement in Business Leadership. The UK based Carbon Disclosure Project has ranked L&T among the Top 10 companies in its annual survey of Indian companies. L&T is the only company in the engineering and construction segment to have made it to the list. (October 23, 2010)

Delhi Airport wins British Construction Industry Award

The Delhi International Airport, completed by L&T in record time and readied for the Commonwealth Games 2010, has won one of the most rigorously judged and coveted international awards in the construction industry - the British Construction Industry award for 2010. Already a recipient of high praise from different quarters for its scale, state-of-the-art features and for the speed in which it was built, the British Construction award, is further affirmation that the Delhi Airport can join the ranks of the finest airports in the world. Economic Times Company of the Year Award to L&T

India's leading business daily, The Economic Times, chose L&T as The Economic Times Company of the Year 2010. Lauding L&T's role and contribution, the Award jury observed that "The company has been involved in almost all of India's prestigious engineering creations, including roads, power plants, buildings, bridges, ports and nuclear reactors. A bellwether of India's engineering sector, the company has just completed a five-year programme of restructuring its operations and is well poised to take advantage of the opportunities that lie ahead." Double Honours for L&T at NDTV Profit Awards

It was a special evening for L&T at the NDTV Profit Business Leadership Awards on September 1, 2010. Mr. A.M. Naik, Chairman & Managing Director, L&T, received a Special Award for Business Leader of the Year - Building India. The Award was presented to Mr. Naik by Union Finance Minister, Mr. Pranab Mukherjee. The other honour that came L&T's way was the Leadership Award for Excellence in Infrastructure. This was the fourth occasion when L&T has emerged the winner in the infrastructure category, affirming the Company's leadership position in the industry.

L&T’s Sustainability Report 2008 and specifically its disclosures, was ranked among the top 4 in the country by Asian Sustainability Rating (ASR). The study examined 20 leading companies in India. In the pan-Asia rankings, L&T ranked 17 among 200 companies across the continent. Other companies in India’s top four are Tata Consultancy Services, Indian Tobacco Company and Infosys. Technology Block at Hazira wins LEED Platinum Rating

L&T’s Technology Block at Hazira, near Surat in Gujarat, bagged the coveted Platinum Rating under the LEED NC v2.2 Rating System. Inaugurated on January 15, 2009, it is now one of just nine Green Buildings in India. It secured 56 points out of the 57 attempted, and is ranked third greenest in the country and the first LEED Platinum rated project in Gujarat.

Mr. A. M. Naik, Chairman & Managing Director, received Gujarat’s highest state honour – the Gujarat Garima Award (‘Pride of Gujarat’) – presented by the Chief Minister of Gujarat, Mr. Narendra Modi. The award – a shawl, a citation and a memento – was presented on January 12 – the inaugural day of the ‘Vibrant Gujarat exhibition currently being held at Ahmedabad. The Electrical & Electronics Division (EBG) of L&T won the prestigious Golden Peacock National Award for Innovation for its PACE (Performance Acceleration in Changing Environment) process. Lifetime Achievement Excellence Award for Best Corporate Man of the Decade

The New Delhi based Foundation of Indian Industry & Economists (FIIE) conferred on Chairman and Managing Director, Mr. A. M. Naik, its prestigious Lifetime Achievement Excellence Award for Best Corporate Man of the Decade. Handa Golden Key Rolling Trophy

The Electrical and Electronics Division (EBG) of L&T won the prestigious Handa Golden Key Rolling Trophy, the first prize in 2003-04, from the Indian Value Engineering Society (INVEST). This was awarded for wide usage of Value Engineering and Value Management techniques that have helped to bring down the cost in innovation management, add shareholder value, improve quality, simplify procedures, increase efficiency in materials management and develop value attitudes in its workforce. Major Awards Received by L&T in 2003-04

43rd Annual Awards Competition organized by the Association of Business Communicators of India (ABCI)

L&T’s Corporate Communications Department won seven awards at the 43rd Annual Awards Competition organized by the Association of Business Communicators of India (ABCI). Competing against entries from almost every major corporate in the country, L&T’s communications affirmed its high professional standards and creative calibre. (February 27, 2004)

Best Product Award at Elecrama 2004

The FNX Range of Switch-Disconnector-Fuse (SDF) units from Electrical & Electronics Division (EBG) of L&T won the Best Product Award at Elecrama 2004, the 6th International Exhibition of Electrical and Professional Electronics, held at New Delhi. EBG received this award in the national as well as international category.

JRD Tata Corporate Leadership Award

Mr. A. M. Naik, CMD of L&T, was honoured with the prestigious JRD Tata Corporate Leadership Award by India’s premier management organization, the All India Management Association (AIMA) in New Delhi. “Mr. Naik successfully restructured L&T to leverage its core competencies, thus enhancing value for shareholders. Mother Teresa Award for Corporate Citizen -2003

The Chennai-based Loyola Institute of Business Administration (LIBA) conferred on L&T, the Mother Teresa Award for Corporate Citizen –2003. The Award lauded L&T for fulfilling its social responsibilities. LIBA is one of the prestigious management institutes in South India. LIBA instituted the Mother Teresa Award for Corporate Citizen in 1999 to showcase, every year, corporates that have rendered service to the socially weak and disadvantaged sections of the society, beyond the call of duty. The Awarpur Cement Works (ACW) of L&T located in Chandrapur, Maharashtra, bagged the TERI Corporate Social Responsibility Award 2002-03, for its pioneering efforts in the field of social and community development. (February 4, 2004)

Golden Peacock Innovative Product - 2003 Award

Lauding the innovative, user-friendly features, revolutionary product development process and use of advanced technology in its material development, the Institute of Directors, New Delhi, presented the Golden Peacock Innovative Product - 2003 Award to M-Line range of contactors. M–Line contactors are part of the wide range of contactors manufactured by L&T’s Electrical and Electronics Division. M-Line bagged the award in the Electrical Equipment Sector category. The awards were presented at a ceremony at the World Quality Council meet in Bangalore on January 24, 2004.

FICCI Award 2003

The Indian Nuclear Society (INS), the representative body of Indian professionals in the nuclear field, conferred the Industrial Excellence Award on Heavy Engineering Division (HED) of L&T. Lifetime contribution to the Indian industry and to Indo-European Union co-operation

Henning Holck-Larsen, Chairman–Emeritus, L&T, was felicitated in the land of his birth, Denmark, by the Confederation of Indian Industry and European Union for his lifetime contribution to the Indian industry and to Indo–European Union co-operation.

Outstanding Concrete Structure

The Engineering Design & Research Centre (EDRC) building of L&T’s Construction Division (ECC) in Chennai was chosen for a Special Mention as an Outstanding Concrete Structure by the International Federation for Structural Concrete (better known by its original French name of Federation Internationale du Beton or FIB).

Worldstar 2002 award

The Electrical & Electronics Division of L&T was awarded the prestigious Worldstar 2002 award for developing an eco-friendly packaging for its FN-63 Switch Disconnector Fuse by the World Packaging Organisation in Sweden.

Padma Bhushan

Henning Holck-Larsen, Chairman-Emeritus, L&T, was awarded the Padma Bhushan by the Government of India for his lifelong contribution to the Indian industry.

Gold medal and a certificate of excellence

L&T-Chiyoda Limited - a joint venture engineering company of L&T, Chiyoda Corporation, Japan, and Sumitomo Corporation, Japan - received a gold medal and a certificate of excellence for its outstanding performance in terms of productivity, quality, innovation and management from the National Institute of Economic Development, New Delhi.

RoSPA Gold Award for Occupational Health and Safety

The Paradip project site of ECC Division, which executed an integrated Coal Handling Plant for Paradip Port Trust at Paradip, Orissa, won the RoSPA Gold Award for Occupational Health and Safety from the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA), UK.

Overseas Construction Council of India (OCCI) award

ECC won the Overseas Construction Council of India (OCCI) award for Outstanding Performance in the following categories :

CFO of the Year Award

Mr. Y. M. Deosthalee, Chief Financial Officer, won the CFO of the Year Award instituted by the Economic Intelligence Unit, American Express and The Economic Times, one of India’s foremost business publication.

NACE (National Association of Corrosion Engineers - International) Award

The Research & Development Department of L&T’s Engineering & Construction Division won the NACE (National Association of Corrosion Engineers - International) Award for the best corrosion testing R&D Laboratory in the private sector in India.

Indian Chemical Manufacturers’ Association Award

L&T won the Indian Chemical Manufacturers’ Association Award for its pioneering work leading to development of the waste heat recovery system for cement plants. This application was the first-ever to be developed for cement plants in India.

Five National Awards

The Indian Institute of Bridge Engineers conferred five National Awards for Outstanding Bridges on L&T’s Construction Division and L&T’s JV, L&T-Ramboll Consulting Engineers Limited for excelling in bridge construction.

The ACCE(I) Billimoria Award

The ACCE(I) Billimoria Award for Cyber Towers, Phase 1 of HITEC City at Hyderabad was received from the Association of Consulting Civil Engineers, Bangalore.

ICI-McBauchemie Award

L&T was presented the ICI-McBauchemie Award by the Indian Concrete Institute for Most Outstanding Concrete Structures - 2001 for ’Chaitanya Jyoti’ a magnificent structure that is part of the temple complex, at Puttaparthi in Andhra Pradesh.

Highest Export Award in the non-mineral sector

Chemicals & Allied Products Export Promotion Council (CAPEXIL) selected L&T for the Highest Export Award in the non-mineral sector. This Award was given for the Cement Division’s export performance.

First Assessor for the Certification Body of the Indian Centre for Excellence in Project Management

Mr. K. Venkataramanan, President (Operations) & Member of the Board, L&T, was certified by International Project Management Association as First Assessor for the Certification Body of the Indian Centre for Excellence in Project Management.

Indo-German Greentech Environment Excellence Award

The Awarpur Cement Works of L&T, located in Chandrapur District of Maharashtra, was awarded the Indo-German Greentech Environment Excellence Award for outstanding achievement in the field of environment protection.
