Skill-Building

Skill-Building

L&T aims at training the vast young population of the country in a manner that will aid their own growth and also contribute to the economy. It focuses on rural school dropouts. The programmes enhance their skills and makes them employable.

L&T operates nine Construction Skills Training Institutes (CSTIs) across the country. These institutes provide free-of-cost vocational training courses and other skill-building activities as well as employment opportunities. L&T’s construction sites provide on-the job learning opportunities, internships and apprenticeships for the large unorganised workforce in the sector. Apart from the construction skills training such as bar-bending, formwork carpentry, masonry, scaffolding, electrical, welding, the training centres have also introduced new courses related to smart city projects such as OFC & CCTV Installation and Maintenance, solar panel installation and maintenance, networking, metro communication and Smart Meter with emphasis on technology and innovation.

In FY2021 17,635 youth completed various courses at these CSTIs, improving their chances of obtaining employment.
