TRANSFORMING LIVES THROUGH
HOLISTIC COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
- 27 April 2026
Over 3 lakh lives have been impacted by the efforts of L&T’s campus team at Hazira, through thoughtfully designed community development programmes across areas of Education, Water & Sanitation, Skill building and Environment.
Located on the banks of the Tapi, L&T’s A.M. Naik Heavy Engineering Complex (AMNHEC) does more than just deliver industrial excellence. The facility, driven by values and compassion, engages in a raft of social initiatives that benefit over 3 lakh people in the region every year. Across education, water & sanitation, skill building, rural infrastructure, health and environment, AMNHEC reinforces a culture where engineering progress goes hand in hand with social good.
Education remains a cornerstone of our outreach, with over 50,000 students across 150+ rural government schools benefitting annually. The focus is on delivering quality education to the last mile, strengthening infrastructure and accelerating digital adoption through 600+ digital classrooms. Over 5,000 students gain hands-on exposure in high-tech computer labs, while fifty-two schools are covered under a robust STEM programme, complemented by two dedicated innovation and learning centres.
Initiatives such as ‘Umang Activity Centres’ and project ‘Niramaya’ support the mental and physical well-being of children across thirty-one schools, while ‘Pusthak Pushpa’ fosters a culture of reading. The facility also sends mobile vans to far-flung areas, to showcase two hundred science experiments that may ignite curiosity and scientific temper in young minds. Our efforts are directed towards an integrated approach to education by adding a layer of regular motivational sessions by industry experts.
Our Water & Sanitation initiatives have positively impacted over 70,000 lives so far. With twenty underground tanks built across coastal villages -- creating a capacity of fifty-eight lakh litres -- alongside pond conservation and groundwater recharge efforts, access to safe drinking water has improved significantly. This has reduced the time spent fetching water, empowering women to engage in income-generating activities.
Through skill building initiatives, we have trained over 6,000 women and youth through five fully equipped centres, offering courses in tailoring & design, beautician courses and computer literacy. Aspirants also benefit from the Government-recognised certifications that open doors to more professional opportunities.
L&T has also built rural infrastructure – including seven community halls, four anganwadi centres and a specialised audio recording room for a school for the visually impaired. Our healthcare initiatives reach over one lakh people annually through well-equipped community health centres and mobile medical units that extend care to remote areas.
Environment stewardship is also integral to L&T’s social impact, with large-scale tree plantation and mangrove restoration across 150 hectares. We have also installed 727 Kw of solar panels in sixty-eight schools, powering education sustainably.
Several of our community-led initiatives are helmed by over 500 L&T volunteers [L&T-eers], who have collectively contributed over 20,000 hours to bring about a lasting, positive change.
As always, we empower lives, transform communities. Our journey towards a sustainable future continues.
