At a key L&T Power project site an award winning CSR programme is helping build skills and change lives. Providing training in 3 major areas - masonry, bar-bending and formwork -  the Construction Skills Training Centre, established in Village Saathmohini, Dist. Khandwa, Madhya Pradesh, is helping the local population get access to high quality, certified construction skill training facilities which qualify them for employment.

The centre which came up in November 2015, not only trains youngsters but also helps them find employment. One of the bigger achievements of the Centre in the last one year has been the removal of disconnect between demand and supply of skilled manpower in the area. The programme aims at skill certification to enable and mobilise a large number of youth for outcome based skill training and become employable. It targets school drop-outs and other disadvantaged sections of the society.

This Centre - a result of the convergence of the skill development objectives of the Government and the vision of the private sector - was awarded the prestigious PMI India Award for Best Project 2016-17 by the Project Management Institute (PMI) in the ‘CSR’ category. The Project Management Institute founded in 1969, delivers value for more than 2.9 million professionals working in nearly every country in the world through global advocacy, collaboration, education and research.
