26 July 2017
In the week from July 1 to July 7, 2017, L&Teers planted 36326 saplings across the state of Maharashtra.
L&T’s Tree Plantation Drive is an ongoing response to the substantial climate change and sustainability challenges, like water supply and biodiversity loss. Through proactive advocacy by environmentally conscious employees, Ladies clubs (consisting of spouses of employees and women employees) and NGO partners, this drive catalysed tree planting action in 10 major districts of Maharashtra - Palghar, Thane, Raigad, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Pune, Nasik, Nagpur, Ahmednagar and Satara.
Of course, we strongly encouraged the planting of indigenous trees and plants that are appropriate to the local environment.
This environment awareness drive educated poor farmers regarding the benefits of terrestrial biological diversity, which also plays a vital role in maintaining forest ecology through pollination and cross germination and in turn helps the agricultural process.
Annually over 2.5 Lakh saplings are planted by L&T across campuses in India.
