Environment Protection
Technology innovation is at the forefront of L&T’s quest to find new ways to reduce our environmental footprint. Our environment protection initiatives focus on reducing the use of natural resources, building efficient infrastructure and cutting emissions. Technology and digitalization help achieve these through several means including Process Redesign, Optimization and Operational Efficiency, as well as Conversion & Retrofitting of equipment.

Renewable energy & energy conservation
We make conscious attempts to conserve fossil fuels by increasing our share of renewable energy consumption. A team of dedicated in-house Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) certified energy managers and auditors helps us manage energy at our manufacturing facilities, and energy audits have been initiated at major project sites.
Our continual focus is to increase the share of renewable energy in our operations. We generate renewable energy at 18 of our campuses. Eight of our campuses source wind power and one campus sources solar energy. With a strong focus on energy conservation, we have a corporate target of increasing energy conservation measures YoY by 10%.
Green Campuses - The L&T Construction headquarters at Manapakkam has been acknowledged as an 'Outstanding Corporate Green Campus' with every concrete structure on campus having green features. Both the Chennai Campus and our Powai campus have offset their entire GHG (Green House Gases) emissions.

Green Portfolio
L&T has a portfolio of green products & services developed to deliver engineering and design solutions focused on sustainability. This includes technology solutions that are low on carbon emission, water consumption and air pollution, to improve energy efficiency with clean energy and resource conservation.
As the world takes the path towards low carbon economy to implement climate change mitigation and adaption strategies, it is essential to create green infrastructure that reduces GHG emissions. Our green portfolio offers infrastructure that has a low impact on the environment and focuses on public well-being.
For over a decade now, we have increasingly focused on green building concepts, which have helped our customers reduce energy and water consumption, utilise recycled material or alternate materials for construction.
Another innovation is our e7 Sand Plant Solutions – manufactured or engineered sand solutions where premium quality sand is manufactured, that has all desired quality aspects as that of good quality river sand. e7 Engineered Sand is therefore a true green substitute to river sand, helping save the destruction of rivers and their eco-systems.
L&T Hydrocarbon Engineering positions itself as a key player in emerging business such as Biofuels and Waste-to-Energy and is working with process Licensors to offer solutions based on multiple technology pathways for converting Ligno-cellulosic biomass to liquid fuels. Read more
