L&T Partners to Install Walk-in CT Scan Facility at Mumbai COVID-19 Hospital

Recently L&T’s CSR function joined hands with Wipro GE Healthcare, PNB Housing Finance, SNC-Lavalin to help COVID-19 patients get a CT scan at a unique walk-in facility installed at the 1,000-bed temporary COVID-19 hospital at Bandra Kurla Complex in Mumbai.

As the City’s fight against COVID-19 continues, the COVID-19 hospital set up by Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) and run by Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM), will get ‘CT in a Box’ - first-of-its kind diagnostic solution in India for COVID-19.

Wipro GE Healthcare is a Technology and Solutions partner for this initiative and a consortium of three companies L&T, PNB Housing Finance, SNC-Lavalin are CSR partners. This joint CSR effort was facilitated by NGO partner, United Way of Bengaluru.

‘CT in a Box’ will be the first of its kind in India - an easy to install, safe to use and quick to scan turnkey innovative solution that will aid in diagnoses and better management of COVID-19 patients. Chest CTs enable clinicians to diagnose the severity of the disease in COVID-19 patients and accordingly guide treatment protocols.

With the total number of COVID-19 cases in Maharashtra crossing 16 lakhs, and for Mumbai crossing over 2.4 lakhs, the need for such a turnkey solution is greater than before. L&T has been an active member in the fight against Covid-19 through its country-wide initiatives to support state governments with critical medical equipment and supplies for Corona health warriors.
